I will admit that when Duke injured himself on a Sunday at 6 pm in May, I considered leaving it for the night, because it “didn’t look that bad.” But after Dr. Logan arrived and had scrubbed the wound I could easily see why this cut was a huge problem! More than likely something would have penetrated the joint that night if I had left him alone instead of calling the vet. Wow! Dr. Lacher also explains why the recovery prognosis drops within the first 24 hours of an injury! It's crucial that you get your vet involved as quickly as possible! She usually recommends that if a cut is just above the fetlock and down chances are pretty good that your vet is going to want to see
